Steam mop review
Friends kept telling us how having a steam mop saves time and cleans better than sponge and cloth mops. So being an avid researcher, I started my quest. In general, customer reviews for steam mops complained about power cords being too short; too much water left on floor; 90 day warranty period; customer service personal that were no help, rude or did not answer phone or emails; cleaning pads that would not fit after washing; cleaning pads that were hard to install and units that died within the first year.
My research leads me to the Hoover WH20200. It had none of the deficiencies described above and most important to me comes with a two year warranty and the rare customer that had a problem received prompt attention and satisfaction from Hoover’s customer service. Yes, the mop is more expensive that other mops, but you get your money’s worth. The MSRP is $150, but you should be able to find one on Amazon for $99 or less. The best source for my research was the customer reviews on Amazon.com. (Note: I only consider products with a lot of reviews, not just a handful). When looking at products on Amazon, always check the More Buying Choices box on the right side for additional prices. You can find the mop on Amazon by clicking this link Hoover TwinTank Disinfecting Steam Mop - WH20200
Follow-up: We have been using the mop the past 2 months and it is working like a charm! It is fast, easy and disinfects. And for the first time, when I wipe the cleaned tile with a wet cloth I don't see dirt on it. It does everything we ask it to do (no it does not clean the grout) :)
4/28/2014 - nineteen months and still preforming at 100%, no problems at all! We use it every week to clean the tile floors. We did replace the small water filter ($10) at 18 months.
